At Baillieston Community Care, we understand the importance of maintaining independence in the comfort of your own home. That's why we've curated a collection of technical devices and smart technologies specifically chosen to enhance your daily living experience. Explore our Digital Tech Den to discover how these technical devices can help you maintain independence, improve safety, and enhance overall well-being.
Thanks to the generosity of previous donors, we have been able to provide these technical devices completely free of charge for our Service Users. We hope to be able to continue doing this, however, availability is subject to device stock. If we’re out of stock, purchasing may be necessary. Whilst we strive to maintain free provision, it’s not guaranteed.

Ring Doorbell
The Ring Doorbell offers extra security and ability to communicate with visitors without having to go to the door. The device has built-in motion sensors that send alerts to your phone when someone approaches your door, enhancing security and allowing you to monitor activity around your home.
Reminder Day Clock
The high-resolution digital alarm clock clearly spells out the full day of the week, month and date. Also shows morning, afternoon, evening, night and midnight. This makes it suitable for individuals with visual impairments or cognitive difficulties.
Alexa Echo Dot
The Alexa Echo Dot is great for connecting service users with loved ones. The device can link up to other Echo and Alexa devices to improve smart home technology. With Alexa built-in, the Echo Dot allows you to control various smart home devices, play music, set alarms, make calls, check the weather, and more, all with voice commands. This hands-free operation adds convenience to daily tasks. The Echo Dot's compact size makes it easy to place in various locations throughout your home, ensuring that Alexa is always within reach without taking up much space.
Smart Bulbs
Smart Bulbs are voice or app activated lights to set up around the home. Can reduce falls likelihood for those with poor mobility. Smart bulbs can be controlled wirelessly via a smartphone app or voice commands when integrated with a smart home system like Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, or Apple HomeKit. This allows you to turn lights on or off, adjust brightness, and change colours from anywhere with an internet connection, adding convenience and flexibility to your lighting setup.
Hydration Reminder
The Hydration Reminder is Packed with movement, tilt and light sensors, Ulla detects when you drink, and begins to glow only when you forget to take regular sips. Ulla knows when you drink from your bottle, so it only reminds you to drink when you forget to do it on your own. Attaches to any water bottle or standard sized glass.
Companion Pet
Robotic pets are great for homes unable to host animals and have proven to be a therapeutic aid for people living with Dementia. Perhaps the most obvious benefit, companion pets provide unconditional love, companionship, and emotional support. They can help alleviate feelings of loneliness and depression, especially for individuals living alone or those experiencing social isolation.
Alexa Show
The Alexa Show is an 8” HD screen device with available widgets, apps, voice activation, video calls and smart tech control for the whole house and family. Unlike traditional smart speakers, the Echo Show's display allows for visual feedback in addition to audio responses. This means you can see information such as weather forecasts, news headlines, calendar events, and timers displayed on the screen, enhancing the overall user experience.
Locating Tag
The Locating Tags are a versatile tracker for keys, bags, phones, remote controls and more. These are great for helping Service Users locate any of these possessions should they go missing.
Curtain or Robot Blind
The Curtain or Robot Blind are essentially curtain systems integrated with advanced technology that allows automatic operation via remote controls, smartphones, or even voice commands. These high-tech window treatments enable you to adjust your curtains without having to manually draw them open or closed.
Doro Phone
The Doro Flip Phone is simple to use. It has an easy to find emergency assistance button and is designed as a stripped back mobile for older people and people with Dementia. Doro phones feature large, easy-to-read buttons and a straightforward user interface, making them accessible for seniors and those with limited dexterity or vision.
Robot Vacuum Cleaner
Robotic cleaners can assist those with low mobility, remain independent and keep a clean home. One of the primary benefits of robot vacuum cleaners is their convenience. They can be programmed to clean at specific times, allowing you to schedule cleaning sessions even when you're not at home. This ensures that your floors remain clean without requiring manual intervention.
Smart Plug
Smart Plugs are plugs which helps to manage devices across the home without having to reach them. Smart plugs allow you to turn connected devices on or off remotely using a smartphone app or voice commands, even when you're away from home. This provides convenience and flexibility in managing your home appliances and electronics.
Echo Flex
The Echo Flex does the same as other Echo devices. Drop in, voice activated, links and manages other apps such as smart bulbs and smart plugs. The Echo Flex plugs directly into a standard electrical outlet, saving valuable counter or shelf space. Its compact size makes it ideal for smaller rooms, such as kitchens, bathrooms, or hallways.
Sensor Lights
Sensor Lights are great for people with limited mobility, who are prone to falls, or living with Dementia. Sensor lights also help deter potential intruders by automatically illuminating when motion is detected, alerting you to activity around your home. This added visibility can discourage trespassers and provide a sense of security, especially at night.
Universal Remote
The Universal Remote is a simplified TV remote to uncomplicate using TV’s including Smart TV’s. Instead of juggling multiple remote controls for different devices, a universal remote consolidates control into one device, reducing clutter and simplifying the user experience.
Meross Smart Thermostat
The Meross Smart Thermostat enables you to control your heating through a smart phone or smart speaker. Compatibale with Alexa and Google Assistant so you can control it with your voice. Normally requires a qualified electrician to install.
Flood Prevention Plugs
Safety plug used to prevent flooding when water level reaches certain depth. Pressure system activates to release water down plug hole. Flood prevention plugs are equipped with sensors that detect the presence of water or moisture in areas prone to leaks, such as basements, bathrooms, kitchens, and laundry rooms. Early detection allows homeowners to address leaks promptly before they cause extensive damage.
Kettle Companion
The Kettle Companion is an assisted living device (small sphere) placed in a loved one’s home to allow light touch monitoring.
Day Light Lamp
This light is suggested to use for 30 minutes a day, preferably in the morning, to reduce effects of Season Affective Disorder (SAD). Exposure to bright light, particularly in the morning, helps regulate the body's internal clock, or circadian rhythms. Daylight lamps can be used to simulate natural sunlight, which can help reset the body's sleep-wake cycle and improve sleep quality.
Bone Conductor Earphones
Bone Conductor Earphones are a Bluetooth enabled over-ear device that enables listening without in-ear discomfort. Bone conduction headphones sit outside the ear, leaving the ear canal open. This allows users to remain aware of their surroundings while listening to music or taking calls.
Tapo Smart Camera
The Tapo Smart Camera is a home security camera manufactured by TP-Link. Tapo smart cameras do much more than traditional cameras. The Tapo Smart Camera provides 24/7 monitoring of your home or office, allowing you to keep an eye on your property at all times, even when you're away.
Bluetooth Tile
Bluetooth Tile trackers are small, lightweight devices that can be attached to items such as keys, wallets, bags, or even pets. Bluetooth Tile trackers help you keep track of your belongings by allowing you to locate them using a smartphone app. When you attach a Tile tracker to an item, you can use the app to ring the tracker and locate your item if it's nearby.
Adaptive Utensil Set
Adaptive utensils typically feature ergonomic designs and specialized features that make them easier to hold and manipulate for individuals with limited hand strength or mobility. This can help promote independence and confidence during mealtime.
Homecraft Universal Kettle Tipper
The Homecraft Universal Kettle Tipper is an assistive device designed to aid individuals with limited mobility or strength in safely pouring hot liquids from a kettle. The kettle tipper reduces the risk of spills and burns by providing a stable and controlled pouring mechanism. Users can tilt the kettle without needing to lift it, reducing the chances of accidents or injuries.
Fidget Apron
A fidget apron for dementia is a specialised garment designed to provide sensory stimulation and tactile activities for individuals living with dementia or Alzheimer's disease. Fidget aprons are equipped with various tactile elements such as buttons, zippers, ribbons, textures, and pockets that provide sensory stimulation and engage the senses. These activities can help individuals with dementia stay focused and calm, reducing anxiety and agitation.
Fidget Blanket
The Fidget Blanket is very similar to the Fidget Apron. A fidget blanket, also known as a sensory or activity blanket, is a specialised textile item designed to provide tactile and sensory stimulation for individuals with conditions such as dementia, Alzheimer's disease, autism, ADHD, or sensory processing disorders. The tactile elements of a fidget blanket can have a calming and soothing effect on individuals experiencing anxiety, agitation, or restlessness. Engaging with the different textures and activities can help regulate emotions and promote relaxation.

A fidget book, also known as a sensory or tactile book, is a specialized book designed to provide tactile and sensory stimulation for individuals with sensory processing disorders, autism, ADHD, or other conditions. The Fidget Book is also very similar to the Apron and Blanket, providing the same benefits.
The NRS Healthcare Rehaband Set
The NRS Healthcare Rehaband Set is a specialized rehabilitation kit designed to aid individuals undergoing physical therapy or rehabilitation exercises. The Rehaband Set typically includes a variety of resistance bands, loops, and straps of different lengths, strengths, and configurations. The Hand & Wrist Exercise Gel Ball
