Standing Against Racism

Baillieston Community Care & Extended Personal Care Statement on Racism and Hate

At Baillieston Community Care & Extended Personal Care, we are deeply saddened by the recent incidents of racism, hatred and discrimination witnessed across the UK.

We believe that everyone deserves to feel safe, respected and valued, regardless of their race, ethnicity, nationality, faith or background. As an organisation dedicated to supporting people within our communities, we stand firmly against all forms of racism, prejudice and hate.

Our workforce reflects the diversity and strength of modern Scotland. Every day, colleagues from different cultures, backgrounds and experiences come together with a shared commitment to providing compassionate, high-quality care and support. Their contribution is invaluable, and they deserve to work and live free from fear, intimidation and discrimination.

The values that guide our work, respect, dignity, inclusion and compassion, are incompatible with racism and hate. We remain committed to fostering an environment where both the people we support and our staff feel welcomed, respected and empowered to be themselves.

We stand in solidarity with all those affected by recent events and reaffirm our commitment to creating communities where diversity is celebrated, inclusion is championed, and everyone has the opportunity to belong.

David Reilly, Chief Executive Officer, said:

“The recent scenes of racism and hatred witnessed across parts of the UK have been deeply upsetting. At Baillieston Community Care & Extended Personal Care, we are proud of the diversity within our workforce and the communities we support. Our colleagues come from many different backgrounds, and each person brings unique skills, experiences and perspectives that enrich our organisation and strengthen the care we provide.

There is no place for racism, discrimination or intolerance in our society. We stand alongside those who have been affected by these events and want our staff, the people we support and their families to know that they are valued, respected and welcome. Together, we must continue to build communities founded on kindness, understanding and mutual respect.”
