Scottish Care Awards 2025 Finalists – Press Release
We are absolutely thrilled to announce that Baillieston Community Care has once again made the finals at the forthcoming Scottish Care Awards. This year, we have reached the finals in two categories!
Positive Impact Award – Bernie Gaffney

We’re thrilled to share that our incredible Day Service Manager at Bealach House, Bernie Gaffney, has been named a finalist in the Positive Impact category!
Bernie has dedicated an amazing 18 years to Bealach House, bringing compassion, commitment, and an unwavering sense of care to everything she does. As she approaches retirement, we felt it was the perfect time to nominate her for this award—recognising the lasting and meaningful impact she’s made on both colleagues and the people we support.
Bernie has been, and continues to be, a true asset to our organisation. We couldn’t be more delighted to see her recognised with this well-deserved nomination.
Technology & People Award

We’re absolutely delighted to announce that—for the second year running—we’ve been named finalists in the Technology & People category!
After being announced as winners at the Scottish Care Awards 2024, we’re now hoping to make it back-to-back victories at this year’s event. Since last year’s success, we’ve continued to push forward with our Care Technology Project, building on the momentum and striving to take it even further.
A special shout-out goes to James Davidson, Team Leader & Care Technologist, and Connor McFarlane, Communications & Engagement Officer, whose tireless work behind the scenes has been instrumental in driving the project forward. Their dedication truly embodies what this recognition is all about.
Here’s to round two—fingers crossed!
David Reilly – Chief Executive Officer, commented:
“I was delighted to learn that Bernie Gaffney has been shortlisted in the Positive Impact category. Bernie has been a pillar of strength and compassion at Bealach House for 18 years, and this recognition couldn’t be more deserved. Her dedication has touched the lives of so many—staff and service users alike—and as she approaches retirement, it’s wonderful to see her lasting impact acknowledged in this way.
Behind the scenes, we continue to work hard to champion and grow our Care Technology Project, and I couldn’t be prouder of how far it has come within our organisation. Being shortlisted for the second year in a row is a real marker of the progress we’ve made—and the momentum we’re building.
Of course, we’re hopeful for a back-to-back win, but we also recognise the strength and innovation of the other finalists. We wish them all the very best of luck. At the end of the day, a win for anyone in this category is a win for care technology as a whole—and that’s something worth celebrating.
These nominations reflect the commitment, compassion, and innovation that runs through everything we do, and I am incredibly proud to lead this organisation.”
