Our CEO attends the Five Nations Forum

David Reilly, our CEO of Baillieston Community Care and Extended Personal Care, was honoured to attend the recent Five Nations Care Forum held in Cardiff in his role as Vice Chair of Scottish Care.

This important biannual event brings together key representative bodies from Scotland, England, Wales, Northern Ireland, and the Republic of Ireland. It provides a unique platform for leaders across the nations to come together, share insights, discuss current challenges in the social care sector, and explore collaborative solutions.

Stepping in for the Chair of Scottish Care, David attended his first forum meeting and reflected on the experience:

“It was a pleasure to attend this event as the Chair of Scottish Care was unable to attend, and I was happy to step in. This was my first meeting, and I wasn’t sure what to expect. The two days consisted of vibrant discussions from across the five nations, with everyone given the opportunity to talk about what is happening in their respective areas in relation to social care. We heard from Gillian Baranski, Chief Inspector of Care Inspectorate Wales, and Jeremy Miles, Cabinet Secretary for Health and Social Care in Wales. It was fascinating to learn more about the developments in Wales. We also explored a range of other important matters.”

The forum is a vital space for cross-nation collaboration, enabling care leaders to engage on shared priorities such as workforce, sustainability, regulatory reform, and the integration of health and social care systems. By bringing together diverse perspectives and experiences, the Five Nations Care Forum supports the development of more resilient and forward-thinking care services across the UK and Ireland.

David’s participation reflects our commitment to championing excellence in social care and playing an active role in national and international discussions shaping the future of the sector.
